The Kansas Building, in the heart of Liverpool’s Cavern Quarter, is the second location for Starboard’s ‘Smart City’ tourist backpackers hostel brand with five star management.  Budget hotel chain, Starboard Hotels commissioned the development of the former department store to provide luxury hostel style accommodation.  The development includes 53 bedrooms, providing 266 bed spaces over seven floors.  The lower and ground floors provides for restaurant and bar facilities and a live music venue.  Autumn 2013 saw the much anticipated and talked about grand opening of the Hoax Hostel.

Safecontrol were appointed to install a number of systems throughout the development over a three month period.  The scope of works included site wide structured cabling network, which provided telephone, data and internet connectivity.  A digital TV distribution system was installed throughout the public areas and a number of the bedrooms.  In addition to this HDMI distribution cabling was installed throughout the public areas to enable connectivity of TV display screens.  Induction loop amplifiers were also installed throughout the public areas of the building. 

The project ran smoothly for Safecontrol from the initial site visit to handover and was delivered on time and within budget.  Adi Hodzic, of Starboard Hotels was delighted with the end result and passed on the following comments:
